Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran was caught on a scorching mic yelling an anti-gay slur at a heckler in the course of the crew\u2019s 10-2 loss towards the Houston Astros on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Duran made the comment as he stepped to the plate within the sixth inning. A fan shouted at him that he wanted a tennis racket. The participant yelled again, “Shut up,” adopted by the slur.<\/p>\n

He apologized in a press release after the sport.<\/p>\n

“During tonight\u2019s game, I used a truly horrific word when responding to a fan,” Duran stated. “I feel awful knowing how many people I offended and disappointed. I apologize to the entire Red Sox organization, but more importantly to the entire LGBTQ community.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Our younger followers are supposed to have the ability to look as much as me as a job mannequin, however tonight I fell far in need of that duty.”<\/p>\n

The Red Sox also released a statement on Duran\u2019s words.<\/p>\n

“The Red Sox addressed this incident with Jarren instantly following right now\u2019s recreation. We echo Jarren\u2019s apology to our followers, particularly to the LGBTQ group,” the team added. “We try to be a company that welcomes all followers to Fenway Park, and we are going to proceed to coach our staff, gamers, coaches and employees on the significance of inclusivity.”<\/p>\n
