for this year of \u00a321.9bn.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Ms Reeves said this represented spending over and above what was forecast at the time of the last Budget in March, including: <!-- --><\/p>\n<ul class=\"sc-5c9c90b0-0 cnfHHs\">\n<li class=\"sc-8d73edac-0 ezcCTE\">\u00a311.6bn to give public sector workers recommended pay rises that are bigger than the 2% budgeted for by the last government<!-- --><\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-8d73edac-0 ezcCTE\">an extra \u00a36.4bn on \u201cundisclosed\u201d asylum and immigration prices, and \u00a31.5bn extra to cowl NHS pressures from strikes<!-- --><\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-8d73edac-0 ezcCTE\">\u00a31.7bn more in military support for Ukraine than was planned<!-- --><\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-8d73edac-0 ezcCTE\">\u00a31.6bn more in payments to private rail companies after a weaker than expected rebound in passenger demand after Covid<!-- --><\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-8d73edac-0 ezcCTE\">higher than expected inflation since overall departmental budgets for this year were set in 2021.<!-- --><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Ms Reeves announced cuts worth \u00a35.5bn this year, rising to \u00a38.1bn next year, which she said were required to fill the shortfall, including:<!-- --><\/p>\n<ul class=\"sc-5c9c90b0-0 cnfHHs\">\n<li class=\"sc-8d73edac-0 ezcCTE\">scrapping Winter Fuel Payments<!-- --> for around 10m pensioners who do not currently receive pension credit or other means-tested benefits<!-- --><\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-8d73edac-0 ezcCTE\">scrapping a cap on the amount people in England pay for social care, scheduled to come into effect in October 2025<!-- --><\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-8d73edac-0 ezcCTE\">cancelling a planned road tunnel under Stonehenge, the A27 Arundel bypass in Sussex, and ditching \u00a376m to reopen previously closed rail lines<!-- --><\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-8d73edac-0 ezcCTE\">cancelling <!-- -->plans for a new qualification<!-- --> to replace A-levels and T-levels in England, which Labour say was never allocated funding<!-- --><\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-8d73edac-0 ezcCTE\">stopping &#8220;non important&#8221; government spending on consultants, and unspecified &#8220;administrative efficiencies&#8221; for the Civil Service<!-- --><\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-8d73edac-0 ezcCTE\">scaling back government communication and marketing spending, and selling &#8220;surplus&#8221;
