Econ professor advances previous Dem main to face GOP opponent in MN eighth House district


Jen Schuktz received Tuesday evening’s House District- 8 Democratic main in Minnesota, beating out Democratic Farmer-Labor candidate John Munter. She will transfer on to the General Election, going through off towards Republican incumbent Rep. Pete Stauber

Cook Political Report has labeled the eighth Congressional District as “solid” Republican territory. 

Munter of Warba is initially from Albion, New York, and graduated from Duluth East High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s diploma from the University of Minnesota, Duluth in 1972. According to Ballotpedia, previous to his retirement, he later acquired a level from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in 1988, and labored as a author and at Delta Airlines.

Jen Schultz of Duluth has lived in Duluth for practically twenty years, teaches economics on the University of Minnesota, and has served within the state legislature for eight years. During her time within the state House, she championed a number of payments targeted on increasing inexpensive medical insurance, growing wages for private care assistants, investing in house and community-based providers and “closing corporate tax loopholes,” based on her web site.
