Thousands of residents have been evacuated as giant wildfires reached the suburbs of Athens, with flames as excessive as 25m (80ft).

Homes and properties – together with a faculty – in close by cities are on fireplace because the wildfires continued in a single day.
Aircraft working to extinguish the flames had been pressured to land when the solar set, making it a floor operation in a single day. Residents have complained of an absence of fireplace vans and firefighters, and the Greek authorities have accepted provides of worldwide help.
